Integrating Sikh Philosophy into My Work

Inspired by the Sikh mantra "Pavan Guru, Pani Pita, Mata Dharat Mahat"—which translates to "Air is the Guru, Water is the Father, and Earth is the Great Mother"—I apply these principles to my design approach:

  • Air is the Guru: I align my designs with natural ecosystems, learning from and respecting the environment, guided by the idea of air as a teacher promoting sustainability.

  • Water is the Father: I use water and natural resources mindfully, ensuring my work supports and conserves these essential elements, reflecting water’s role as a protector and nurturer.

  • Earth is the Great Mother: I respect and honor the earth’s role as a foundational support, incorporating traditional techniques and local materials that celebrate and preserve our connection to the land.

All my projects follow these core principles:

  • Harmonize with Nature: Design in harmony with ecosystems and support local communities.

  • Understand Materials: Explore materials’ unique properties and cultural value.

  • Refine Continuously: Improve designs based on feedback and learning.

  • Blend Techniques: Integrate traditional and innovative methods.

  • Use Local Resources: Employ local materials and techniques for sustainability.

  • Repurpose Waste: Transform discarded materials into valuable elements.

  • Integrate Seamlessly: Blend designs with their surroundings and respect traditional crafts.

  • Preserve Tradition: Honor and incorporate traditional techniques and crafts.

  • Merge Realms: Connect science, design, nature, and culture.

  • Collaborate Locally: Partner with local artisans to support craftsmanship.

  • Promote Collaboration: Foster shared control and mutual benefits.

  • Embrace Flexibility: Adapt to unexpected outcomes and discoveries.
