FROM GRAPE LEAVES

A Sustainable Collaboration: Parmeet Kaur and Jean-Luc Pasquet Honor Cognac’s Organic Vineyards, Offering a Saree as Tribute to the Fertile Land and Its Bountiful Harvest"

The Saree Offering: FROM Grapes Leaves

In The Saree Offering: Grapes Leaves, Parmeet Kaur collaborates with local organic Cognac winegrowers to create a transformative land art project that blends tradition with sustainability. This initiative not only challenges the status quo but also envisions a future where natural dyes from vineyard byproducts contribute to a thriving, pesticide-free economy in the region.

By repurposing discarded grape leaves to dye a two-meter Ahimsa silk saree—a garment steeped in cultural significance—Parmeet underscores the potential for an eco-conscious economy that respects the land. The saree, dyed in the gentle morning light with minimal heat, symbolizes more than just a garment; it embodies a profound dialogue between tradition and ecological responsibility, celebrating Cognac’s natural beauty while advocating for sustainable agricultural practices.

Through this project, Parmeet highlights the importance of moving away from harmful pesticides, demonstrating how vineyard byproducts can be transformed into valuable, environmentally friendly goods. The saree, a symbol of cultural and environmental harmony, reflects a commitment to a future where natural materials and sustainable methods take precedence, fostering both the well-being of the land and the community.
