Blue Feature

​

​Commissioned by curator Meera Curam for the exhibition Blue Feature at Hampi Art Labs, this site-specific installation draws from the vernacular architecture of Punjab, where walls are living surfaces that continue to change through light, weather and time.

​

Created with naturally fermented indigo, the 8 × 8 metre wall was developed over the course of one month through repeated layers of colour and an organic propolis and beeswax finish. Throughout the exhibition, the work continually changed with daylight and atmosphere—morning and evening never revealed the same blue.

​

Rather than presenting blue as a permanent architectural finish, the installation follows indigo as a living material whose appearance is continually shaped by light, air and time.
