Bandhani (Tie & Knot) & Indigo Practice

Cloth is tied by hand, creating points of resistance that shape the dye.
Through immersion in indigo, patterns emerge with rhythm, repetition, and release.

Process

Participants work directly with the Bandhani tie-resist technique, engaging the hand in a repetitive and precise gesture.

Preparation of cotton, tying, immersion in the indigo vat, and opening of the cloth reveal the pattern gradually.
Each mark is formed through tension, pressure, and timing.

The process unfolds slowly, where repetition creates rhythm and the hand guides the formation of pattern.
